Assembly wasn’t too hard to understand like others are making it seem, just gotta use your brain. The hardest part was fitting into tight corners to tighten some of the camber bolts and whatnot. We absolutely love our Mandujano Murphy Bed in the Barnwood finish. After downsizing, we needed our larger office to double as a guest room, and this bed is perfect. It’s solid wood, extremely well built, and the design is brilliant — when folded up, it looks like a beautiful chest of drawers, and the bottom drawer is a real storage drawer that holds pillows, sheets, and a blanket. We bought the matching mattress thinking we might upgrade it later, but it’s genuinely comfortable. When our twin sons were visiting, one son slept on it with a plush topper and liked it so much he stayed in the Murphy bed even after the guest room became available when his brother departed. The Barnwood color blends perfectly with my wife’s Italian furniture, and the stowed design leaves room for a wall‑mounted TV above it. First, I was sent the wrong colour (I got gray but ordered white) but had to keep it because there was no time to get anything else (the delivery was on time, I was late ordering). The mattress cover was so soft! There was a board that the thin coloured layer separated at the seam showing the press wood below (see picture) and a place where the intentionally exposed press wood had a small separation visible. None affected the use or safety of the product. The mattress was found to be surprisingly comfortable. I give it a 4 due to the above deficiencies ignoring the fact that I was sent the wrong colour. I was quite intimidated when I opened the packages, lots of pieces and lots of fasteners. I slowly read thru the instructions, and realized I did need a 2nd person to help assemble. Once I got the drawer rails started, the rest was just as the instructions showed. Assembly took ~6 person hours with a couple of mistakes that required taking some pieces apart and reassembling. Multiple pieces were not labeled with numbers and the instructions were somewhat difficult to follow. This piece is very sturdy but note that it weighs ~240 lbs in total. Converting it from a cabinet to a bed is definitely a 2 person operation as the top is quite heavy. A 6" trifold mattress just barely fits - it makes it hard to use the latch and puts pressure on the front panel such that it slightly bends outwards. Overall a beautiful and functional Murphy bed. Came well packaged in 2, heavy, boxes. As other reviews have stated, it takes a considerable amount of time to assemble, it took me a little over 3 hours. There were a couple steps that were a bit confusing and I had to go back and switch things around but for the most part, pretty good instructions overall. My only complaint is the bolts for the handles and knobs were just barely long enough, the first one I accidentally over tightened and it broke. Exercise extreme caution with the knobshandles. The finished product is beautiful! I love that it has small reading lights within the bed frame, becasue side table lamps would be difficult to reach from the bed. The assembly was laborious and required familiarity with furniture/cabinetry assembly along with some problem-solving. The number provided for customer support within the packaging is disconnected, so I wouldn't count on that. I was hesitant to order because of the reviews on missing pieces, but we had everything we needed. However, there was a piece with predrilled holes on the wrong side, so we drilled new holes. If you aren't extremely handy, or if you don't have a professional to assemble this product, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're confident in your abilities, it's worth the effort!. Ashley.
