The quality of the base and the post is good. The dome that holds the light has residue around half of it inside the shade near the edge. Its quite visible when the lamp is on. We cannot tell if its a problem with the paint or if its surface issues. We won't try to do anything about it as we do not want to damage the paint inside. I have turned the dome so its not seen from the main part of the room (its only one one side) but when its on and you sit in the chair below it, you can clearly see it. If it wasn't for the fault in the paint here, we would have given the lamp 5 stars. But for the over $240 dollars we paid for the lamp, we would have hoped for higher quality, especially where its so visible.
