The down rod is a cord! Just make sure you know that. A heat gun straightened them out and I love the look of them though!

Love the lights, they are exactly as described. I will say that the black wire has taken almost a week to straighten out. The first one installed is completely straight, the other two are still a little wavey.

These lights were nice looking, but the way they were designed made installation very difficult. To adjust the length of the cable requires you to cut the excess cable, which covers the three electrical wires. The cable is extremely thick, which makes splitting or opening to access the wires almost impossible. So if you simply cut the cable to the correct length, then the wires lose their identity. Next, the screws supplied were too long, and protruded through the cover plate much further than the finish nuts would cover. With our standard ceiling boxes, you could not turn the screws to shorten them. I spent more than 2 hours trying to make this work (including buying different screws), but I gave up in frustration and returned these. I have installed many lights over the years, but these were by far the most frustrating.
