This fixture was worth the effort! The wheel is certainly solid wood, so it’s a bit on the heavy side, but it’s not going to move. I saw some reviews wanting the finish to have a high sheen like an option in the product photos. This can be easily accomplished (if you want) with a single coat of polyurethane. It’s hard to find a vintage statement piece this wide, to fit a standard 8 foot ceiling so I really like it! I removed all but 10 chain links, and my 6 foot husband can walk underneath just fine. You do need to connect 19 wires (9 neutral, 9 hot and one ground.) Clip connectors are the easiest to make sure everything stays tight. The hardest part about removing links, is someone must hold this large piece over their head, while the wiring is connected and it’s tightened down to the ceiling plate. The way the wheel is assembled, that can be tricky to reach over the top, but that isn’t a fault of the fixture that I wanted it up higher. If you like the look of the bulbs, these are 4.3 inch LED Edison bulbs in Amber. They are dimmable, but aren’t too bright as-is. The instructions were not helpful at all, but if you look at the pictures; it’s easy enough to assemble. Nice vintage statement piece that would work in a variety of decor. Put the bulbs in after it’s hung (despite the instructions) and the glass shields in last.
