You can choose a medium base bulb or LED equivalent to assemble inside. I installed the light on our porch wall but it is definitely perfect for other parts of the house. This is great quality, it arrived in perfect condition so packaging was ideal, not too heavy, but durable enough for outdoors and to not feel cheap.
