[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent premium ceiling fan. It's main features include pretty much everything one could expect from such a simple device, maybe even a tad more. It's design is classy and elegant, sporting a sleek and modern look. Overall a quality, well-done product.
POSITIVES: The fan runs silently other than the sound of moving air, which is perhaps my most basic expectation of any ceiling fan; it doesn't buzz or hum. Since it can be controlled both by app and by remote, it does not need any unsightly chains dangling from it for a nice clean appearance. The six operating speeds provide fine-tuned control beyond the basic three, which is a big plus.
NEGATIVES: The variable speed setting (breeze) where it changes between fixed speed settings serves no useful purpose and feels gimmicky and superfluous. I very much do not like the light; I'll comment on that below.
REMOTE: Excellent. I can mount the rack on the wall, and keep the remote there or move it around the room -- such as on my nightstand right next to the bed. I appreciate that the fan supports a second remote, to keep one in multiple locations in the room (e.g. night stand + wall mount) -- however a product as premium as this should include that. It allows thorough control over the device's main functions. I very much like the ability to change blade rotation right from the remote; no climbing up on a step-stool or removing light covers to get at a switch. One thing it lacks that it should absolutely have is a backlight, so I could adjust it in the middle of the night without a light on.
LIGHT: This is the unit's biggest shortcoming. The maximum setting is not as bright as I would like. Even worse, it sends most of the light it emits straight down, so the outer edges of the room where closets or furniture such as dressers are is purely lit. I cannot control the color or temperature of the light, which I've come to appreciate as an avid user of Phillips Hue. I can appreciate the compactness and flush look they were going for, but I would much rather be able to use my own light bulbs. This light allows for no flexibility other than brightness control.
APP: I like it. It's allows me fine, precise control over the entire unit. The timer is nice, so I can shut the unit off shortly before waking, so I don't freeze when getting out of bed. The ability to schedule the fan adds to that, and scheduling the light is a great feature I find especially useful when I am not at home, to make it look like I am indeed at home. The ability to control what happens after a power outage or when a wall switch is toggled off and back on is a valuable feature, helping in scenarios like sleeping-hours power outages and accidental blinding.
With a few tweaks, this would be the most ideal fan I could imagine. Even so, this unit is very good.
