From the picture, it appears to be a distressed silver or galvanized metal. The color is actually more a painted gray with tan. I purchased this and a matching smaller size because I needed the sizes and for the light fixtures to match in the kid's bathroom. Originally, slightly disappointed with the color, but once on the wall, the gray does look very nice. And at the price point, I can't complain. Overall, it gave me what I needed and I am ultimately satisfied, but I was expecting something else when I purchased it. Pros: Pretty, stylish Cons: Picture does not show color well.
