The angle of the shade is adjustable in all directions. The dimmer switch dials down to turn the lamp off so that it’s always a gentle start when you turn it on, never a harsh, sudden glare. At the time we ordered, the lamp was labeled as “set” and the description said “table lamp set” with a pair symbol, but we only received one. Customer service was very responsive and sent another right away.
