It's a nice fixture and seems like would be worth it if hard wired, but definitely would not recommend as a plug-in fixture because the backplate does not allow for the cord to drop down and the "switch" they provide is just a toggle switch that you have to connect to under the backplate...meaning you would have to reach up and behind the art to switch..
