I purchased an open-box unit and it looks great. The base is very heavy and provides solid support for the arc lamp. I assembled it on the second floor and then moved it to a third-floor bedroom. There was quite a bit of shaking due to the arc shape, but it maintained its structure without any issues. I absolutely love the design of this lamp. However... The shade, which ships as a rolled up tube, got smashed down in shipping into an oval, resulting in major, obvious ripples, toup to bottom and all around. I carefully ironed it, under a towel, to flatten it out. It's not perfect, but it's way better than it was. The manufacturer should ship the shade with an insert to keep it from getting crushed..
