Digital Wireless Rain Gauge With Self-emptying Rain Collector

Love this wireless rain gauge. Works great and easy to read.

This is a good rain gauge but it has a design weakness. Everything was working great for most of the summer. Then after a heavy rainfall, I noticed the gauge didn't register any rainfall. I checked the outdoor unit and it looked fine but when I removed the cover I found a wasp nest and a whole bunch of wasps. As small as the holes are at the bottom of the collection bowl, they are still large enough for adult wasps to squeeze through and build a nest that blocks the measuring mechanism from working. I looked at some of the higher end weather stations and their bowls has a screen covering the bottom of the collection bowl so I assume the manufacturer is aware of the issue. Seems like a simple fix but until they add a screen to the rain gauges, I'll pass.

The unit works well but this is the 3rd gauge I had to purchase from you company. The exterior unit always fails to stop sending out a signal after a few years. I guess this is your plan obsolesce.

The molded plastic collection funnel that directs rain into the measuring device is flimsy and the tabs that secure it will break if subjected to any strain (such as the wind, that brings the rain, blowing on it). The idea may be sound but, the pennies you saved on plastic, doom this product to the trash bin.
