Not very sturdy. Two of the seat flats had let go before I took it out of the box. Screws holding them not long enough. Had to fix that with liquid nails and better scews before even putting it together This is a soft wood even if it is advertised as “solid wood “. Love the look, but won’t get a second set as I had planned.

tldr: Structurally unsound. A slat on the seat broke the second time I sat in it, when I stood up. These chairs looked nice from a distance on my patio. I really like the design and finish, which is why I bought them. Unfortunately, they are marred with issues. The main issue is that the seat broke when I stood up. The second big issue is that they are pretty uncomfortable. They force you to sit very upright. The backs need a little curvature to them. My dining room chairs are more comfortable. These chairs are not for lounging. There were were also a number of defects in the finish where the wood clearly had received some stress or strain. It was scraped in places and discolored in others. Had I kept them, I would probably consider re-finishing, which is a shame because that's why I bought them. There was no sign of damage to the seat before use, and I am not that heavy (175 lbs). The wood is very light and I think that they are just not very strong. This is just plain a design defect.
