We used these brackets when we built a simple mantle. They are very hefty and took stain and then paint very well. Added great detail. I plan to get more for other projects.

Paired 4 of these with two windows boxes, one 2 and one 7. For the 7, I used 3 decorative brackets, which I think made the long box look more balanced. For the 2, the box still needed two mounting brackets, but two decorative brackets looked like too much. I used the glue that came with the kit to glue one decorative brackets in the center. It came out looking good! Well see how long it holds up, but if it doesnt, I have more glue.

The brackets are so worth it to finish the look of the window boxes. My little 100-year-old cottage needs the extra charm they add, anyway.
