Not for outdoor use. Lasted just long enough under a tree next to the house for the return window to expire. I would go as far as to say false advertising. The chime part of is bamboo and nylon string however the mermaid itself is made of partial board. Partial board, no matter how much you “spray with varnish”, should NEVER be used if there is any chance of getting wet. In the case of this chime water runs down the string and inside the particle board. Once water is inside partial board it expands and falls apart. So when the item description states “minor cracking does not affect tone quality” what they are saying is the partial board is expanding, cracking the surface, exposing more particle board, and fallIng apart.
