It makes a lot stronger and you're not pulling on the fabric when attaching to post or walls. I like a sail that doesn't flop around this one is very easy to mount and it looks great. We had previously purchased the standard shade for our deck and were very pleased. It not only provides shade but it is noticeably cooler under it. That's why we decided to install one on our new pool over the shallow end deck and most of the shallow end for sun protection. The super ring is very sturdy and has been put to the test because we are on the top of a ridge where it can get very windy. The crank makes it much easier to tighten as the shade stretches. The wrench provided can be difficult but with the proper size bit and my ratchet wrench, it is much easier. We are extremely satisfied with the products and recommend them highly.
