I have wanted a really good quality Adirondack chair for years. One that I wouldn't have to maintain other than cleaning, and one that I could store easily during a hurricane. I read dozens of reviews of various choices over the past few months, and finally decided on this chair as it folds for storage and was a decent price (for this type of material). It arrived on time, and was well packaged. As I took each piece out (most of them were wrapped in foam) I inspected it and was impressed by how much this really does look like wood. I did find several washers and nuts loose in the box, which was a bit perplexing since the heavy duty plastic bag that contained the bolts and nuts and tools was sealed with no holes or tears. I thought maybe these were extras and set them aside. It took me over an hour to assemble as I did it alone (I am a middle aged woman who has put together many items over the years) and I was very careful with reading the instructions as I didn't want to have to go back and redo anything. The pieces are heavy individually, so it was a bit tricky to line up everything during assembly, but it all worked out. To my surprise, those "extra" nuts and washers were not extras at all, but needed to assemble the chair - there are no extras of anything, so make sure you have the indicated quantities before starting assembly. I don't know how they got out of that plastic bag but I am really happy I searched the corners and nooks and crannies of the box as I was unpacking it all, otherwise I would have thrown the needed parts away. My first impression of it assembled is that it looks really nice. Comfort is just ok - not super comfortable as some other Adirondacks I've sat in have been. What I am most disappointed about is that it does NOT fold easily at all. I think I will actually have to loosen the bolts to fold it when needed. I am a bit afraid to loosen them a bit and have things shift as I sit in it with the normal wear and tear a chair gets - I don't want to compromise the integrity of the strength of the chair by having loose bolts. So I guess I will have to resort to manually loosening things when it does need to be folded. I'm not sure I would have bought this if I had sat in it (like you would in a store before buying), but to be fair I have not sat in it for a long period of time yet. The instructions could have been a little bit clearer (especially the very last step) - the print on the instructions was very tiny and a bit blurred. It's worth keeping since it would be too much of a hassle to return it, and hopefully I will get a lot of use from it and it will last years as it is supposed to.
