I bought 2. Does okay above 10 degrees. It’s 4 degrees outside now and both pans have a solid 2 inches of ice on the surface. Water is not frozen solid but is inaccessible to the animals due to the sheet of ice. Very disappointing.

This worked really well for both a five gallon bucket and a 16-gallon barrel. Both used the horizontal chicken nipples to dispense the water.

I use this heater in a 5 gallon bucket with nipple waterers in my chickens coop. I have never had the water freeze up on them. I also haven't noticed paint peeling like others have said. I like that it has an internal thermastat and will only turn on when needed.

I bought this last fall for my birdbath and it worked great all winter! My birdbath is 14" in diameter and about 3" deep and it stayed ice free all winter. Great product!
