We use these gate latches to keep our property secure. You can use a padlock on the inside of the gate to prevent outsiders from opening, but we just use a carabiner instead to keep wannabe trespassers off our property. Nice secure latch too, no worries about my dogs getting out of the yard.

No exactly what we needed...but quality of the product was amazing!

I took my time with this as I have metal fence posts and have not done this kind of installation before. They only considered wood and vinyl posts as they included wood screws and vinyl screws in the package. They did not include metal screws. I was, however, able to substitute metal screws at the points where the other screws broke and the install was after all, successful, although difficult. More work was involved to make the latch truly user friendly and therefore functional. I had to label the front part of the latch as some delivery people failed to be able to open the gate because it would not open when they gripped the entire protruding handle (which won't work as one part of that arrangement is stationary and won't move "up"). Whereas with the help of a stick-on label added to the movable "bent out" part of the handle, a delivery person can easily lift the handle up and open the gate. The manufacturer should heed this and cut short the stationary part of the handle so that opening is a "no brainer". It seems as though the manufacturer fully intended to save money here by making this latch capable of being used on either left or right side of the gate. However this compromises the ease of use without further modification considerations. (like labeling movable parts that do open with the words "Lift Here" with an "ARROW" and as well attaching a physical "pull" handle of sorts that doesn't get in the way of opening and closing the gate when you're on the inside of the gate trying to get out). This could easily be remedied by the manufacturer. Doing so would not interfere with using this latch on either the left or right side of the gate.

Heavy duty and to find them in white was a plus. Unfortunately, we had decided to sell the home and didn’t get a chance to actually install them and try them out. My husband said the hinges were of great quality better than the big box stores.

Wow I am so impressed that this gate lock is made of such quality! All together it weighs more than 6 pounds, is non rusting, and looks impressive. I am not installing it right now but I will send another pic when it is installed. Great product for sure!
