Have this unit. Vertical series 6 . 1st cook was 4 whole upright chickens on beer can , water in pan , using hickory pellets (all wood hickory not flavored) Cooked per Pit Boss temps and directions. Results were less than expected. Little smoked taste and skin not crisp. Should I raise box temp for more smoke and crisp. I am used to a large black iron smoker with real logs not pellets. Getting older and want to master the Pit Boss Series 6. Less time at the pit with this technology. Any suggestions? Gary G

After 3 weeks and multiple calls to the help desk I finally managed to successfully smoke some meat! My first call to the help desk I was told I didn’t start the smoker correctly (even though I followed the instructions exactly). The second call resulted in receiving a part that didn’t repair any thing. Finally the 3rd call resulted in the problem being properly diagnosed and corrected part (control board) being sent. I pray that the smoker will continue to work properly going forward.

I have really enjoyed this smoker!! Bought one 4 1/2 months ago and use it atleast 2 times a week. Only thing I have issues with is when trying to finish something off at a higher temperature, it starts giving error codes. Other than that it smokes great!!

The product is awesome and it works great. I’m always gonna be a pit boss fan.
