The slate oval is fine - the numbers are bright and readable. The stake, when affixed to the slate, only extends 6 inches below the bottom. So, if you want this to be mounted in the ground you will need to have another stake to put it on, otherwise it's not long enough. That wasn't readily apparent from the photos! Or, order this version if you want to mount on a wall and don't need a stake.
