I received this a couple of days ago and put it together last night. My experience in assembling the stand is that it was extremely easy to understand, and there were very few steps (putting sides, bottom, and top in place and securing with four sturdy plastic bolts, no tools needed). I did struggle a bit to get it together, as dropping the bottom into place after putting the sides together was difficult (it was a VERY tight fit...but necessary). After assembly was complete I discovered that I couldn't slide the top panel open to access the food storage area, but this was resolved by loosening the bolts a tiny bit. It also needs to be thoroughly wiped down once assembled, as there were (with mine) tiny bits of composite plastic on all of the surfaces. At any rate, it wasn't really difficult to put together, even for me. I am impressed with this feeder stand so far. It feels very sturdy (made of some sort of composite vinyl material, I think), the bottom is solid and looks like it can support enough weight for any food storage, it's attractive, and the design is smart (having that separating panel below the food dishes prevents spills from getting into the storage area). The food dishes are also a nice size (larger than the ones in my dog's previous dish stand, which is handy in the summer when you want to have lots of water on hand). The storage area is very convenient, which is why I bought it...my kitchen is cramped for storage space, so I can store my dog's freeze-dried bags of food in there and access them easily. Unfortunately the boxes his food come in don't fit - I measured, but didn't account for the sliding panel interfering with the height - but still not an issue; the boxes can be tossed and the food stored in the stand within their heavy-duty bags. (I just mark the date and other info on the bags with a marker.) It's really at the top end of tall for my dog (a 45-lb border collie) but still not too big for him, and he seems to really like it. Two minor drawbacks to this feeder: First, sliding the top panel to access the food may cause the water dish to spill over, so be sure that it isn't completely full when you do. Or, remove the dish before sliding the panel. Second: There is only one direction to slide the panel. It's a bit inconvenient because the only place in my kitchen where the feeder will fit won't allow room to slide the panel to the left. So I have to have the feeder 'backwards' against the wall. But again, only a minor issue...it just means that the logo on the side of the feeder is facing the wall. Overall, this is a really nice feeder. Time will tell how well it stands up, but it appears to be well worth the investment.
