Very silky, soft texture. Love the fact it can be tossed in washer and dryer as-is (without having to remove covers & fighting to put them back on). My 3 dogs love it! UPDATE AUG. 2017: This bed has not stood the test of time regarding how well it stayed fluffy and gave support (what little it had to start with). It's been flat as a pancake for quite a long time. I have to put it on top of another flat "pancake" dog bed to give my dogs any cushion whatsoever. Won't buy again because of this issue.

This bed is wonderful. We have our older dog sleep on a theraputic mattress for arthritis with this pad on top. She sleeps much better. She likes the feel of the cover and the added softness. I like the fact it is washable without stripping the cover from the padding; and, every time it is washed it just gets fluffier without any fading.
