we put these gates at the top of our stairs to keep our dogs contained and they work great! Our 5 yr old grandson can work them with ease.

The appearance/design was nice, however the overall quality of the plastic brackets was poor. To assemble the gate, you needed to remove the plastic brackets and reposition them to your desired gate width, however the brackets screws were extremely difficult to remove and one could not be removed at all. This made the gate no nonusable since we needed a much wider width. The return was easy, but I guess you get what you pay for. Hopefully it this was a rare occurance since it seemed very easy to assemble and use otherwise.
