I ordered a 8 piece of the Royal -8-1/2 tall combination base & cap to replace the old column bases on 2 columns which originally was an exterior wood type that had severely rotted. The material came in quickly & the piece looked even nicer than I thought it would. All edges & profile were well formed with no chips are imperfections. Furthermore the molding was easy to cut miter ends on each of the 8 smaller pieces needed for the 2 column base wraps. A regular wood cutting saw & blade was used. It also was easy to fasten with adhesive caulk & a nail gun. The finished bases look identical to the original ones when installed/ painted but I do think this material will not rot as the original ones did & should last as long as the rest of the wood pieces of the column stay intact. I would recommend this product over any wood type. Although it is more expensive than wood - when you figure not needing a carpenter to change it out ever again it appears to be well worth it. I will plan to use more of this product as needed in the future. Thank you for providing this product.
