Pleasant to walk on. You will need a pad if placing on a wood floor. The color variation is different than I thought: In some lighting, the orange section can look like a worn-version of the red section. But I like it enough---it does bring an earthy warmth.

The quality is really low- nothing like what it looks like online.

EDIT: The rug still shed after 1+ year so we had to replace it, which hurt because the price tag was so high. WAY too much maintenance, but in retrospect we should have never bought a shag rug. Our 9 month old started ripping it up and eating it. Even when she moves around on the carpet she is constantly getting wool stuck to her. It's stuck all over our socks and clothes and was not worth all the time and stress maintaining it. We replaced it with the Alkire Floral Brick Red Area Rug for $250 and we are absolutely thrilled with it. Beautiful, high quality rug. We have had it for over one month and it still sheds loads (which was mentioned to happen for 3 to 6 months). Love the look of the tassels but beware that they are very hard when you step on them, so better to put them in the lesser traffic end. Overall, very happy with the quality, natural materials, and softness.
