The binding around the edge is a true red, but the actual rug is pink. It appears darker when rubbed one way, but not a dark red at all. I returned it.

I needed a rug for my entrance hall and thick has proven to be a great addition. The colors are warm and welcoming as well as it is thicker than expected. Good choice.
