Judy Natural / Ivory Area Rug

Very nice rug, has a good weight to it but I still need a nonslip mat underneath..Pretty pattern, goes with the organic vibe Im trying to create.

I really wanted to love this rug. It looks perfect with the cottage aesthetic of my bedroom but I’m wondering if maybe it got wet/mildewed before it was sent to me? I’ve had jute rugs before and never had an issue with smell. This one had a strong damp smell as soon as I unwrapped it. I put it out on my clothesline for two days and then brought it in. I thought maybe it would air out over time but it’s been over a month and the smell is still quite strong. I leave my window open a crack every day and run my air purifier and still struggle to drown out the smell. I have put baking soda on it and vacuumed multiple times, but the smell remains. If it’s this bad in the winter I’m worried that it will be really strong in the summer. I may have to get a different rug.
