Vintage Swedish half-pile rug, circa 1945, origin: Sweden, mid-20th century vintage Swedish half pile rug. This extraordinary Scandinavian carpet is made using mixed techniques. It combines flatweave and pile rug together. Flat parts of the weave, forming the background, are coloured beige. Fibres protruding above the surface of the background are in the colour of sand. The border of the vintage area rug creates a double frame of the same thickness on all four sides. The central part of the antique rug is divided into two symmetrical rectangles by a vertical line – the axis of the whole composition. Those rectangles are decorated with coiled lines reminiscent of the theme of the maze – what makes the whole thing very subtle and intriguing.
