UPDATE 6 months later
I have changed my mind. Changing from 4 to 1 stars. My optimism about the rug shedding less... That was wrong. I vacuum every week and fill a canister. Which honestly would be fine if that was the only issue.
There are tumbleweeds of lint all over the place after a few days of floor play. They get stuck to the babies clothes and end up all over the house. Im planning on replacing this rug.
I think the price is low for a reason. This rug would probably be great in a VERY low-traffic space. Were on the floor all the time and its turning into a nightmare, just adding to the cleaning burden at this point. Too bad. Heed the 1-star reviews.
------
Honest review here I hemmed and hawed about this rug for weeks before buying it. It wasis basically exactly what I had in mind for our nursery (colorful but not garish, funky, colors to tie the room together). I was pretty worried about the reviews that said it shed like crazy, and almost didnt buy it because of that. Now, after having it for 2 months, Ill say that it definitely sheds a LOT. I know it will get better with time, but its definitely worse than other higher-end wool rugs I have. People arent lying when they say it fills a vacuum canister each time.
Because it sheds, its a little itchy to sit on. I think if we end up hanging out a lot on the floor well have to get a play pad or throw a blanket down. I think if youre averse to itch at all, its probably worth avoiding.
That said, I LOVE the way this rug looks and love that it is nice and plush, but not so shaggy that I cant use a beater brush on the vacuum. I put a 14 rug pad underneath and it is very, very comfy to stand and sit on. The colors are great. The dots are slightly raised, which is kind of a fun sensory feature. I can tell the rug will last a long time, well just have to keep vacuuming it to get those loose fibers out.
