Feroz Wool Animal Print Indoor Rug

this is my absolute favorite rug. the pattern isn’t overwhelmingly loud but it’s still such a centerpiece. great quality especially in the details. the tail is woven!!!

I love this rug but from day one it has had a white powdery sand coming out of it. For long time I thought it was going to go away eventually but it has only gotten worse. I recently mentioned it to my sister who also bought a Jungalow rug during the same sale as I did and she told me she ended up throwing hers away because it was so full of powder! We researched it and found that it seems to be a latex glue that is painted on the back of the threads of tufted rugs under the backing fabric. Some rug manufacturers use a cheap latex adhesive that has filler in it like marble or granite powder so when the glue breaks down it releases this dust. It's horrible and even with beating the rug several times and washing it (which made the backing fabric separate further and even more dust was released! ) it makes a huge mes on my floor. I'm really sad because I loved this rug but it seems I will have to get rid of it because it cannot be healthy to inhale (and my sister is allergic to latex so that is a concern for folks with this rug!) This is a terrible manufacturing practice that is not safe or ethical.
