Very, very black. Not like the photo. Feels like an outdoor door mat.

The rug has light portions that appear khaki in some lights, white in some others. The feel is a coarse velvet for the black portions and a woven feel for the lighter portions. It’s 70% wool 30% cotton.

Nice feel and texture. Just note that the picture is of a large rug. If you buy a small 2' x 3' one like I did, you only get about 1/4 of the pattern in the picture. Still looks nice. Just not exactly what I expected.
