Why Flooring Samples Are Useful
Ordering flooring samples before you purchase flooring in bulk ensures that you choose a flooring option that you really love and ultimately saves you time (and money!) Here are some specific reasons why floor samples are the best starting point when buying flooring.
1. Visualize the Color
Once you receive your tile samples, hardwood samples, or carpet samples, you’ll be able to visualize the product in the context of your home. This’ll affirm that the color you picked will properly match your space.
2. Try Different Options
New flooring is a long-term investment, so trying out the many possibilities is well worth it. We recommend ordering a few samples so you can compare a few different options.
3. Test Its Quality
Purchasing flooring samples helps you understand the quality of the product. You can inspect the thickness and test the durability to see how it will hold up in your home.
How to Test Your Flooring Sample
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to determine whether a flooring sample represents the best flooring option for your home.
1. Test the Look and Feel
- Bring in the Light: Test your flooring sample near a window and by a darker space in the room to see how the color changes in different light. Also, check your samples in the daylight and at night time to monitor how the color changes throughout the day.
- Feel for Comfort: Try laying the flooring down and walking on it with bare feet or your favorite shoes. Get a good feel of the sample by running your fingers over the surface to sense the texture.
2. Challenge Durability
- Spill Drinks: Spill liquids or drinks you commonly have around the house and see how the product holds up. Try spilling different amounts to test the durability of the product.
- Drop Household Items: Drop your keys or other items that fall down in your house. Walk on it with boots and have your pet walk over it too.
3. Assess the Style
- Match the Paint Color: Lay your flooring next to the wall to see if it compliments your paint color. Do the colors match the way you were expecting?
- Match Your Furniture:Test the sample out next to the furniture in the room. Does it go well with the items you have?
