How to Store Hats Effectively
Keep your hats from getting damaged.
If you are a hat wearer, you'll know that putting them away can be a little tricky. The last thing you want is for the brim to get folded or misshapen from improper storage. Never fear though, we are here to help you learn how to store hats in a variety of ways and locations, so you can keep them in tiptop shape.
1. Try a Standing Coat Rack
Coat racks aren't solely for hanging jackets and overcoats from. In fact, they offer a practical and stylish solution for your hat storage woes. You can keep a few of your favorite pieces hung up and ready for you to put on as you head out the door. As an added bonus, many coat racks come with additional storage, so you can ensure some of your other more frequently used accessories are always within close reach.
Corral your collection with a wall-mounted coat rack. These are especially helpful if your foyer can't accommodate a freestanding rack. The multiple hooks will allow you to store more of your head gear out in the open without taking up any floor space. Anyone with a minimalist wardrobe will get more use out of the extra hanging spots for keeping any frequently-used accessories at hand.
An easy way to keep your hat collection neat and organized is with a hanging organizer. One of these hat hangers will easily slot into your wardrobe and help you streamline your closet. You can also pick hanging hooks should those be better suited to your hat types (particularly baseball caps).

4. Hang an Over-the-Door Organizer
Another one of our favorite hanging hat storage ideas is an over-the-door organizer. One of these will prevent your headwear from getting lost or squashed in your closet or drawers. These hangers are renter-friendly (no nails needed) and also help you declutter your closet while keeping your hats in pristine condition.
Go for a vintage aesthetic with hat boxes. These traditional hat organizers are designed to do just that – store and protect your cherished headwear. Not only are these boxes a fantastic hat storage solution, but they can also double as decor. Pick stylish options you can place out in the open for a chic display.
Hall trees are designed to accommodate a myriad of accessories and items you need before heading outside – hats being one of them. Pick a design with hooks to hang your hats from, or with extra storage space you can store your hat boxes in.
For an artistic hat display, try using individual wall hooks. You can play with their arrangement to create a lightweight hat gallery wall or simply show off the most beautiful headpieces you have in your collection. If they are especially ornate, they will also serve as unique and functional art pieces that only you own.
If you do happen to have extra shelf space, consider using baskets and bins for your hat storage. Instead of cramming your hats into your closet, carefully stack them in the boxes so they hold their shape. For something soft like beanies or berets, you can keep them together in a pile. Or use the boxes to alternate what hats you have out according to the season. Just remember to label the fronts so you always know what their contents are.
Accessories are large part of your wardrobe, and know that you know how to store hats, you'll be able to keep them tidy and dust-free
