King vs. California King: What’s the Difference?

Traditional King

Depending on the style of the bed frame or headboard you choose, these dimensions will increase by 2"-5" more. At least 30" of empty space should be left around your bed for easy movement.
California King
The dimensions of a California king-size bed are 72" wide x 84" long, making the California king slightly more narrow and longer than a traditional king mattress. A room that is at least 12' x 14' is best to accommodate the extra length of a California king-size bed. Follow the same guidelines of at least 30" of free space around your bed to make sure you can easily move around the room.
