Our editors spoke with Ken Ozturan, President of Compamia , and Josh Taylor, Marketing Manager at Polywood , to get the scoop on the new outdoor design trends for 2016.

Wayfair: What is your favourite new trend in outdoor spaces?
Ken Ozturan : Colours. Lots of bright, new colours. We see a lot of reds, violets, pinks, purples, and vibrant yellows.
Josh Taylor : I'm loving a couple of trends: creating conversational areas, especially around a fire, deep seating, and mixing materials, textures, and colours.
Wayfair: What are some of your top sellers for outdoor in 2016?
KO : Our top sellers highlight durability and utility. Ares and Artemis dining sets, and the Air series of chairs, bar stools, and counter-height stools bring some colour and a modern design to the outdoors. These two lines are our bestselling lines.
JT : Rockers, Adirondack chairs, and our Harbour Deep Seating Collection.

Wayfair: Are there any trends you are sad to see go?
KO : In the past few years we saw a decline in lacquered furniture products that were very popular. They are completely disappearing from the market.
JT : At POLYWOOD, we embrace the ever-changing styles and trends.
Wayfair: How does eco-conscious design factor in for you?
KO : All our products are recyclable. After many years of heavy use, our products will still have a second or third life as they recycle into other useful products.
JT : Twenty-six years ago, we saw an opportunity to use recycled plastics and through creative ingenuity, POLYWOOD® All Weather Furnishings was born. To this day, we strive to create a sustainable future.

Wayfair: Are you using any new materials in your lines?
KO : We are mainly targeting polypropylene and polycarbonate construction. Some of our products are hybrids that use both materials.
JT : No new materials, but we are excited to launch our new Quattro Collection. This collection allows consumers to create a unified backyard oasis through dining, lounge, bar, and conversational sets. Stylistically, the Quattro Collection is very modern in design and the functionality takes our furniture to the next level. Paired with the new POLYWOOD Harvest table, which blends modern and traditional, this new collection creates a buzz wherever it's displayed.
