How to Create a Hotel-Style Bathroom at Home

Get the luxurious bathroom you want!

Hotel Home Bathroom Hero

Hotels and resorts are a great source of inspiration when designing your bathroom space. The best part is that you really can create a hotel style in your home much more easily and inexpensively than you might guess. The bathroom is not only a room we want to feel pampered in, it’s also a room that our guests are likely to see.

Check out these five great tips to get your bathroom up to hotel standards in no time!

Step 1: Invest in Towel Racks

One of the elements that makes a hotel bathroom feel so luxurious are those big, fluffy towels that you see right when you walk through the door. A few robe hooks for open storage are easy to install, extremely affordable, and keep towels convenient and fresh. Moving them from those bathroom cabinets not only saves you space, but keeps your linens fresher and fluffier. As a bonus, the textural component added by the towels is a great design element.

Step 2: Create a Mood

The quickest way to upgrade your bathroom is with more flexible and dramatic lighting. You can start by installing a dimmer switch. Because we need good light in the bathroom but often want soft light when we slip into the tub after a long day, a dimmer is the perfect solution. If you want to take your lighting to the next level, add sconces or a simple statement light fixture such as a chandelier or pendant lamp to really bring the luxe look.

Step 3: Eliminate Clutter

Another design element that makes hotel bathrooms feel so special is the lack of clutter. Of course, we know our bathrooms would be clutter free if we had our own cleaning staff, but you can make keeping the clutter at bay much easier by using attractive baskets or cubbies on the counter, and in the cabinet as well. Keeping your daily essentials in cubbies that you can pop on and off the counter makes cleaning a snap.

Step 4: Go Big With Mirrors

There are several ways to upgrade your bathroom mirrors. First, go big. If you can install a mirror that takes up the entire space above the vanity, you’ll instantly make both the room and the vanity feel larger. If that won’t work in your space consider purchasing a stylishly framed mirror to replace the standard unit your home came with. Or go all the way and install fogless mirrors that allow you to indulge a little steam-bathing while you get ready for work.

Step 5: Accessorize

Finally, use those baskets and cubbies to display some of your most luxurious bath accessories. When you can see those bath salts, mists and candles, you’re reminded even when you’re not on vacation that you can get the pampering you deserve any time.

As you can see, upgrading your bathroom to luxury hotel status is much simpler and affordable than you might have guessed.
