VERY basic. But, what I'm mostly disappointed in is the lid, does NOT hinge. At both ends it clips on and off. So, you need to remove the whole lid to get to the pencils or whatever. Not a fan of the functionality. Also, they're pretty small. They don't hold a lot of pencils.
