Bad quality control from Closetmaid. Pretty disappointed they let this ship with defective panels from the factory. There are 3 E panels and the panels in this box did not line up. The holes the dowels go into were not uniform and way off causing the panels to overhang. Waiting on manufacturer to fix.

Do not buy! I was assembling this per the instructions and the dowels all broke during step 4. I have assembled countless pieces of furniture and never had this happen before!

These have their purpose. They are sturdy — not flimsy. I have 2 of these stacked in my basement to put my odd-shaped holiday decorations and knick knacks. No dragging out boxes to unwraprap decor.
