This bracket worked out well for a closet we had that had a shelf above and a closet pole for hanging clothing below. I used pine 1x6's for the pole to be hung from (hole on one side slotted on the other). I also had to add a 1x4 beneath the 1x6 to secure the bottom of the bracket and make it flush (spacing on studs).

solid construction and fits well with the closet rod however it did not come with hardware which was disappointing. You will have to use what you can scrounge up and make it work.
