Desseray Set of 2 Reclaimed Elm Floating Shelves (Set of 2)

The shelves do not hold much weight - potentially unsafe! The product description says they hold up to 45 pounds, but there’s no way that’s accurate. The installation equipment does not stretch nearly the whole length of the shelf and it’s simply not strong enough to support it. I have the shelves in a kid’s room and truly I’m concerned the shelves will fall out of the wall and injure someone if anything like a few books are placed on top. We can maybe do a picture frame or two, but that’s it. I installed correctly, following the instructions, and there’s already so much tension pulling the shelves down (even with nothing on the shelves) that the shelves slope downward, well outside the middle section of a level. If we want to put even a few books on the shelves, we’re going to need to purchase brackets to go beneath. A disappointment.

These shelves are gorgeous and are so easy to install. We were even able to install them seamlessly in our lathe and plaster walls. GREAT purchase!

These are nice! Not sure if they’re sturdy to hold a lot of books but we like them!
