• How it works: you choose your length. Depth will fluctuate 8" - 12" deep and be a thickness of around 1.75". Voids filled with soft black epoxy. Finished with a low VOC, non-toxic tung oil-based sealer and urethane for a silky smooth matte/satin finish. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for completion as these are custom-made!
• Brackets included! Individual brackets support 45 pounds of weight per stud they're installed to at 16" on centre. You MUST hit every stud at 16" on centre to take full advantage of the weight capacity rating. Holes drilled in the back are 16" from each other evenly down the back of the shelf to encourage hitting studs. If you know where your studs are and would like us to drill the bracket rods accordingly, send us an email with the measurements to: steeloakcustoms@gmail,com. Drywall anchors will be included in case you cannot hit a stud. Please note anchors will decrease the weight capacity rating. A sheet with helpful installation tips will be provided to you in your package! Upon completion, we install the shelves to their brackets before shipping them out to ensure functionality and stability. We are not liable for a customer's improper installation.
• No mass manufacturing here: these shelves are handcrafted in the USA by a small business in northeastern Ohio.
• Our wood is responsibly sourced from forest management companies. Although once a vibrant tree, feel good knowing you're revitalizing it by giving it purpose as a beautiful piece of art you can appreciate!
• These are kiln-dried (forced heat to remove insects and drop moisture content to a workable level). However, there will be remaining natural bug holes and wormy markings. This emphasizes the character and natural uniqueness of the wood, but the insects are gone.
• The images are just some examples of the ones we've done! What you receive will be similar but also uniquely all it's own.
