I purchased the WFX Utility 5-Tier Heavy Duty Metal Shelving Unit with caster wheels, expecting it to be an upgrade from the earlier WFX shelving I bought. Unfortunately, this version didn’t live up to expectations.
The shelves themselves are solid and hold weight well, but the plastic mounting brackets for the wheels are a major weak point. With only about 100 lbs loaded, one of the brackets began ripping apart, making the caster option unusable. I had to remove the wheels entirely and push the unit against the wall, which defeats the purpose of paying extra for mobility.
On top of that, the unit uses plastic inserts to connect the bottom shelves to the top shelves. After seeing what happened with the caster brackets, I don’t have much confidence in how these connectors will hold up under heavy loads. It makes me nervous about relying on the advertised 2000 lb capacity in real-world use.
By contrast, the earlier WFX shelving unit I purchased (without wheels and about 50 cheaper) has been excellent—simple, sturdy, and reliable. That model has held up beautifully in my garage and feels like true heavy-duty shelving.

Shelves themselves are strong and stable
Pegboard is a nice touch for organizing tools
Cons
Plastic wheel brackets failed under light load
Plastic inserts between shelf sections feel like a weak link
Paying extra for casters that can’t be used is frustrating
Bottom line If you don’t need mobility, I recommend the cheaper WFX shelving unit without wheels. It’s sturdier, better value, and more reliable for long-term garage storage.
