I thought we would be able to just put our feet in front of the sensor and it would open but you do have to step on the paddle to open it. But like I said , so far , so good. Uhg! I’m once again wishing for 3.5 stars or a 710. Yes, the Rev-A-Shelf does work and their competition is weak, so I keep buying it. I think this is number four for me in the last few years. It works but they cost so much and leave so much to be desired. The main lacking component in this piece is the absolute waste of space above the can which could easily have been a pull-out drawer. If you’re looking at other pieces, my experience says they’re most likely lacking something too. I hope a competitive company that’s actually good enters the market. For now, let me tell you, it’s probably less expensive and better quality to have something custom-made. I’m doing that for another piece in my kitchen and saving money. I just couldn’t find good cans for this one or would’ve done it too. Over time you’ll probably forget how much you spent on Rev-A-Shelf, which is probably more than twice as much as it’s already marked up retail price should be, but, if you pick it and install it correctly, it should work.. might not be for everyone, but i personally love the metal. took some effort to put together, but that just makes me more confident it won't fall apart. even with what seems like significant weight from the dogfood inside it feels study and stable. also looks incredible--especially compared to the totes i used to have just sitting around. as a plus, it can with a pretty good little screw driver, which was nice. love it and would definitely recommend..
