These are really great treads so I gave them a 4 star. However, the lower 7 treads in the photo are slightly darker gray. It looks like maybe there were returns that were combined into this box. Unfortunately, they were not identical colors. The adhesive was also different on the backs...3 vertical strips on the lighter gray, 2 long horizontal strips on darker gray. The way my staircase is set up, no one can see it when they visit. I decided not to return them because my large senior dog really needed them. I also added 3 construction staples to make sure they stay in place.

We've had these on the stairs for about a week now, and so far so good. The pets used to slip all over and are happy to get up and down safely, and their footsteps are much quieter now, too. Today one of the treads was coming up because the sticky tape came off the carpet side and was just sticking to the wood stair - but a quick smoosh down and it's all stuck again.

These were just what I needed for my newly redone stairs.

I switched out my thin stair reads for these nice and thick ones. While they are far more comfortable to walk on, it was most important to try and help one of my dogs get a better grip on the steps, as she struggles with that first step. It really did give her a boost up. The already applied tape was a plus and it seems to be staying on without any sliding over the past 3 weeks or so. I bought a box of more than I required, so will be able to switch them out for wear or just to do a thorough clean and air dry. Thanks.
