XO Appliance 36" Stainless Steel 600 CFM Convertible Island Range Hood with Mesh Filter XOMI36G

This is a handsome hood. the fan speeds work well. The lighting is good. I wish it was a bit brighter. We put on an island where our stove is and a bar. Looks good.

We needed an island range hood for our new kitchen remodel and choose this XO based on quality, price, performance and maximum height above the cooktop. The height of our kitchen ceiling is 7'11", and we didn't want a hood that came down too low. We were able to get 32" of clearance above the cooktop, while some of the other hoods we looked at would have given us only 27" - 29". The hood design is very elegant and goes great with the modern elements in our new kitchen. The push button controls are sleek and simple to use, and I love the timer button, which when pressed will shut off the hood automatically after 15 minutes. I haven't had any experience with range hoods before, but the ventilation seems quite powerful with a tolerable noise level. The halogen lights light up the cooktop and surrounding work surfaces very nicely. I do wish the lights were LED and dimmable, but I knew the hood lacked those features when I purchased it. I haven't needed to clean the filters yet, but they are easy to remove and put back in. The hood was installed by the contractors who were remodeling the kitchen. They said it was a tough install because the hood is so heavy and it was being installed in an island setting with no walls or cabinets nearby. The entire unit seems very sturdy and the stainless steel chimney is not flimsy at all. Pros: Beautiful design, excellent performance, high quality build. Cons: No LED lights or different light levels, and no reminder alarm to clean filters, which I am not sure is all that necessary.
