I have several Shun blades, amongst other manufacturers’ as well. I SERIOUSLY love the way this blade cuts! But: The relatively shallow height of the blade, combined with the alignment of the handle (straight back from the end of the blade), make it nearly impossible for me to make cuts without running my knuckles into the cutting board at least once while slicing a mushroom or shallot. May not be an issue for others, with differently-shaped hands….

Great knife for slicing everything from veggies to meat. I prefer it for slicing and dicing vegetables

I love every Shun I own, now I have 6. I tend to reach for this one often because it is larger than a utility, but not so big as my santoku or chef. It’s literally the perfect size for certain tasks

Great chopping knife, its my go to for all my chopping chores and completes my set of blonde knives. Super sharp holds a great sharp edge after allot of chopping and well balanced.

The weight balance of the blade is not pleasing. The blade is almost to light compared to the rest of the knife. It results a feeling of “unsafety”. That’s the knife I use the less in my knife set.
