Expected much more given the price. The positives first: it's made with solid wood rather than particle board, the finish is unmarred, and the unit is square and flush. At this price, however, the fit of the pane pieces is unacceptable. If you look at the photo below, you can see that the gaps between the bottom of the pane frames and shelves is 1/4 inch. A mediocre carpenter can achieve 1/8. The result looks rather odd when your sitting several feet away from the unit: aesthetically unappealing and functionally unable to protect the books from dust, which is, of course, the entire purpose of a barrister bookcase. The gaps are what one would expect from an inexpensive particle board facsimile. This company should be ashamed of its product, especially at this price! Their slogan "Made in the USA" attests only to its geographical location of manufacture, certainly not its quality. If this were going into an attorney's office, it would be the perfect complement for an ambulance chaser. Being a barrister bookcase, I suppose a little Latin is in order: Caveat emptor!

Let me start by saying it was a pleasure working with customer service. They spoke English (which is RARE these days) and were quite nice and very helpful. Kudos Wayfair. I really wanted to like this bookcase because it was exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find in stores. I knew this would not be a fine piece of furniture, but for $760 I didn't expect better. 1) The staples on the whole bottom half of the WOOD back (which was a cheap of luan) were not long enough to hold it to the bookcase - I could have fixed that. 2) The black paint was splotchy on the sides - thought I could live with that. 3) There was a dent on the front edge that I didn't notice until the delivery people were gone - that can't be fixed. 4) There were two 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" pieces of wood attached to the bottom front of the bookcase. This were not on the online picture. Since it was painted the same color I assumed it was not something used during shipping. So, was it for stability to keep the unit from falling forward? - Not something I want to worry about when grandchildren were around. 5) The doors were wobbly and you would have to use great care using them. Instead of hardware slides it's simply 2 dowels sliding along a routed groove and a stapled piece of plastic that it's supposed to rest on, but it rests at a weird angle. For the price there were just too many problems for me to overlook or try to fix. I just had to return it.

Appears cheaply made - not satisfied.

The bookcase is exactly the color I wanted and it looks well made.
