I ordered this in "charcoal" and to me, charcoal is usually more of a black with a grayish undertone but this is more like black sprayed on top of brown wood so it's more of a brown-black but the wood grain etching maybe gives it a slight gray coloring as well. This is not a smooth surface desk as I was told by Wayfair but the etching isn't too bad in it and the legs don't have the etched woodgrain. The underside of this table is sprayed/colored pretty poorly and some of the top coloring did rub off in shipping but for the price, you get what you pay for and since I ordered the 70"x36" this does take 2 people to stand it up after putting the legs on and assembly was very easy. Overall this dining room table-sized desk seems pretty sturdy and large enough for me to do my many art projects on and also have my laptop, etc. all fit here. The spacing between the legs is just slightly more than the 53" stated here in case you're planning to add a chair mat like I am.

bought this for my son - he loves it! it's beautiful, solid and easy to put together and a great size for 2 large monitors plus some....highly recommend.

I could not be happier with this desk. It’s heavy and very sturdy. The wood grain doesn’t look cheap or that fake walnut look cheaper MCM furniture can sometimes have. It was a snap to put together and is a wonderful size. It’s definitely large but looks really beautiful.

It's a nice-looking desk. My only complaint is that I can't cross my legs under it without lowering my chair because of the 3" rectangular framing on the underside that the legs screw into. I should have examined its construction a bit more.
