This unit is worth the money for anyone just getting into using this type of bbq. It's not built with heavy gauge steel so it doesn't hold heat as well as other more expensive models but there are ways around that, like using fire bricks in the cooking chamber to help hold heat. You'll definitely want to have a tube of high temp sealer on hand when you build this unit because it does have quite a few gaps. I haven't had any issues with paint burning off and I've used this bbq about 7 times since I got it, once was a 7 hour cook too. The finish it nice but it feels a little cheapish. Temps are easy to control and stay fairly even throughout the cook. Buy a chimney starter for your charcoal, makes life 100 times easier when maintaining temps over a long cook. Assembly instructions were pretty straight forward, to avoid issues with holes not lining up, don't tighten everything down completely until it's fully assembled. Took about 1.5 hours to build including time for spreading sealer and allowing it to tack up. Overall im impressed with the quality for the price and so far my food has come out great. I was invited to a hot pot dinner recently. I was asked to bring 2 of my Chinese fondue pots and this item. There was 10 of us present. The Chinese fondue pots were lit and warmed up and did just fine, as you would expect. However, this product was absolutely amazing. It cooked so much food! We kept filling it with frozen fish balls, frozen meatballs all manner of veggies and pasta. It just cooked everything so fast, the boil would drop when food was added, especially if frozen. But it would come back to a boil super fast. The amount of food coming out of this thing compared to a regular fondue pot was at least 10 to 1, with no frozen foods added to the fondue pots.
