We have 4 kids (all 11 and under) and 5 prey driven dogs. I needed a super safe place to keep our guinea pigs and this critter cabinet is absolutely perfect for that! We can easily see them doing all their guinea pig stuff. Assembly took me about 3 hours by myself. Directions were easy to follow and I didn’t end up missing anything so the frustration level was nice and low. The lights are our favorite touch. We can see them any time we want but they have a nice dark hideout just in case they need it. I don’t think the access to the hideout is a big deal. If you absolutely need to grab one you can pull out the tray some. Our piggies loved their new home and I also love the peace of mind it gives me knowing they aren’t in a wire cage anymore where my dogs could accidentally get too rough and break them out lol I definitely would recommend this cage. It's a decent cage but came with some screws that were not really ideal for putting it together. Also instructions were a little vague but not too hard to figure out and takes longer than 45 minutes to put together even with 2 people even using a power drill. Also power drill is a must since they only made holes on one side of it to put together. Also, there could of been better attachment pieces for the top and bottom without having to add locks on it. This is exactly what I was looking for as a temporary coop for our ducks. It went together quickly and is extremely sturdy. The only improvement I would make is for the cover to be waterproof. This small animal home was far better than expected. It is gorgeous and very functional by allowing ample storage under. The tray comes up to keep moisture from going over the sides, although small animals could kick paper bedding over the side. It is a really easy to clean dwelling. We have tried lots of different systems for guinea pigs in the past, this has been by far the best. We have two guinea pigs (they are on the smaller side) in this home, and they love it. Update I had the hinges wrong for the lid, now it shuts. I only put the fluffy slam guard on the long edge because if they are on the short ledges it doesn’t close properly. This is beautiful!
